I have had the pleasure of meeting Aggrey several years back. Steinberg Canada was hosting a clinic which involving video editing, Aggrey who is a Final Cut guru was invited. Not long after his passion for music making returned him to Steinberg Canada were he took certificate courses on Cubase.

Building a world class basement studio, Cubase and Nuendo has always been the focal point. Recently i sat down with Aggrey to ask him about his latest work which seems to be getting good reception internationally.
1. What started your interest in music?
I was born into a family of music lovers. My father was a singer and was always whistling a melody. My sisters were always talking about who they thought were the best singer or musician at that time. All we had was music and books..no television. I would wait and listen to their collection for hours. I listened to every song on the album like it was a hit. On weekend I was glued to the radio finding stations that were playing new music. I soon started playing piano and attended some music lessons. Since then I have i been creating music and entertainment.

2. When did you create your first song?
Playing the piano was fun and a great way to spend time experimenting with sound. Everyone mentioned that i had a natural ear for tunes and I would easily pick out the melodies of a song and play it on the piano. I would make songs but couldn't record them since I had nothing but the piano.

3. You mentioned technology and broadcast was an interest?
Yes, I would push the capabilities of radios to the limit. For example, I would take battery powered radios and boost their power. Then i would hook every speaker in sight to it. What I created was a loud clear radio that could be herad through the whole neighbourhood. I somehow always knew that technology was going to be the tool used for creating music and that they were inseparable. I still have an active curiosity about radios and today about the many possiblities of broadcasting.

4. When did you first use Cubase?
I first used cubase in the producer pack days. I was recording and editing with my friends. I was more curious about the program and the way it was processing music than everyone else. I haven' stopped since then. I use Cubase for all my recording, producing, mixing. I also use Nuendo.

5.What do you like most about Cubase?
Cubase came at a time while there was still debate about the new tecnology and if it could deliver. I always knew it could do better than just deliver..it could surpass the analog standards in quality. I like its ease and freedom simply because it doesn't need hardware other that your computer to function. I also like its ability to use hardware from thirdparty suppliers.

6. How did you and Hank Shocklee meet?
I got a call late one night from my partner and friend Andrew "Smooth" Josephs that they wanted to use my studio for a project. They came over and many good things happened that night. Hank was here for the reason 4 demonstration hosted by Music marketing Canada.

7.How did you meet Alexis?
I first saw her perform years ago...she was really young but I saw her talent. I lost touch with her only to be attending a wedding years later and she sang. Everyone encouraged me to work with her. We started to record and within the first week we had a song on the radio..Go sista". We are current working on her album.

8. Tell us about the song thats number one on the pools and charting?
It's called Time and Time again. I produced it and Alexis wrote the lyrics. I was playing her music from other producers and played her this track last. I didn't think she would like it but she started singing to it immediately. Two days later we recorded it.

9. I hear Hank Shocklee is doing a remix?
Wow, that's going to be big once it's done. He listened to it and suggested we put it out and its charting and playin so Smooth hooked up the remix with Hank.

10. Was that song done on Cubase?
Yes it was. From it's conception, the project has been recorded, edited and mixed with in the Cubase 4. Cubase keeps the fun in the work because its reliable. Also it allows us the freedom when we work. Alot of times i will send Andrew projects to edit, he's using a PC at home. But the majority of the work is done on the MAC at the studio, so the fact that we can work in either PC or MAC allows us the freedom to work how we feel most comfortable.

11. Tell me about Kassiopia entertaiment.
Kassiopia is usually spelt with a C but I changed the spelling. Its a star and its now named after me since it was given to me as gift. You can apparently buy stellar real estate from a place called the international star registry. So the name represents stars and a place where talent should shine bright. Kassiopia is a multimedia based label where artists and projects are developed and refined. We want to showcase innovative new products for all ages.

12. Anything else?
Yes watch for the remix from Hank Shocklee producer of public enemy and the producer of the soundtrack of American Gangster starring Denzel Washinton. Also, Madison one of our artists is about to release her first single...Hug me kiss me feat Kolor Brown...produced by Andrew "Smooth" Josephs and myself.
